Maryland's Department of Education Superintendent is pushing back on claims that the state's Comptroller was holding up payments to childcare providers of first responders and healthcare workers.

EDUCATION WILL PAY TWOTHOUSAND DOLLARS TO ESSENTIALCARE PROVIDERS ON TOP OF WHATTHEY RECIEVE FOR EACH CHILD INTHEIR CARE.

SUPERINTENDENTKAREN SALMON SAYS THEDEPARTMENT IS WORKING TOPROMPTLY PAY THE PROVIDERS,AND THE PROVIDERS SHOULDRECIEVE THE GRANT PAYMENT BYTHE END OF NEXT WEEK.

THEDEPARTMENT REPORTEDLYCONTACTED THE COMPTROLLER'SOFFICE ON APRIL 21 TOCOORDINATE THE PAYMENTS.

THEGOVERNOR ISSUED THE EXECUTIVEORDER CLOSING DAYCARES TO ALLBUT ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL ONMARCH 30.
