Class of 20- 20.... graduation most likely won't look the same as years past because of the coronavirus.

But seniors in fayette county are still hoping for an in-person commencement.

Abc 36's monica harkins joins me in the studio.

Monica, fayette county public schools says it's cautiously optimistic.

### this afternoon superintendent manny caulk announcing while it has a backup plan, the school district reserved dates at rupp arena for an in-person graduation ceremony in july, september and december.

Caulk says the district is working with the health department and keeping within governor beshear's guidelines and will only have an in- person ceremony if given the go-ahead.

The district says it's planning a virtual alternative for each of the six high schools...and hopes it would resemble something similiar to a normal commencement with speeches and photos.

The exact date for its virtual ceremony hasn't been pinned down yet, but the district expects sometime in june.

We talked with a current senior at tates creek.

She says if a virtual ceremony is it, it's better than nothing.

"it's kind of sad because you know this is what every senior looks forward to, to walk across the stage, but right now that's our only really option so any senior would love to at least get that to get that credit."

Today, the district also announced it's parterned with at&t and t-mobile to provide hotspots for children who might not have realiable wi-fi at home as schools continues from home throughout the summer.

Right now, it has about 600 hot spots and hopes to reach 21 hundred for children in need.
