Paradise Unified School District campuses to get makeover

The $135-million plan is split up into two phases.

The paradise unified school district will see a number of face- lifts over the next few years.

The district has many projects happening over the next 10 years one of themã redoing the tennis courts i'm standing on right now the 135 million dollar plan is split up into two phases.

The first phase plans to improve all the schools in the district include painting, fencing, installing new playgrounds& building new facilities at the high school and more.

The money for that comes from insurance proceeds and modernization funds and a bond passed in the early 2000's.

Officials say this phase should take about 3 years.

One of the big projects that superintendent tom taylor says is construction of a new gym at the high school that's been on hold for 20 years.

I got to give a lot of credit to david mccready over this shortly after the fire he made a call over to the state and said we just had a very devastating fire is there any way we can get support with moving forward with our gym and so that's exactly whats happening and this is really just the beginning&the gym is going on added parking softball field is being redone there will be brand new buildings done over here at the high school itll probably be north of 60 million dollars we aren't total sure yet once the insurance proceed numbers are finally decided on phase two is to modernize facilities and classrooms at all of the schools, completion of high school rebuild process including a stadium remodel..

A 61 million dollar bond passed two days before the camp fire will pay for that.

Mccready says as the community comes back with tax based bills they will be able to start accessing those funds.

All district sites will be improved in some way..
