Hair salons take extra precautions.

With the amended health order in place this morning, more close contact businesses like salons and gyms are opening their doors first time since the coronavirus hit alabama.

Waay 31's rodneya ross is live in huntsville outside a hair salon that will reopen this morning after taking time to train it's staff on the new requirements.

In just three hours -- salon allure will begin welcoming clients back.

But before bringing clients back in -- the owner wanted to be sure the staff knew exactly how the new process would work to help keep everyone safe.

Instead of reopening, owner paula lecher and her staff spent monday cleaning their stations and practicing the new health such as wearing a mask.

The staff also split into groups for trial runs where they acted as clients.

We wanted them to know how to wear a mask, do services, we wanted them to know how it felt for the client.

They actually had to wait in their car, call us and let us know they are here, when their stylist was ready for them they got to call and asked for them to come in.

All clients will be required to wait in their car until their stylist is ready and they'll have to wear a mask.

The owner also installed plexiglass at the check-in counter to help keep customers safe.
