Today is the last day of school in the Tippecanoe School Corporation.

Since students aren't in class to celebrate traditionally teachers brought the celebration to their homes.

"today mayflower mill has decided to do a parade through several of the neighborhoods."

Mayflower mill elementary school along with four other schools in tippecanoe county are celebrating the last day of school in a different fashion than normal.

More than fifty cars lined up outside of the school ready to wish students well as summer break starts and for teachers such as gina boyd it was congratulang students who are moving on next year.

"i have fifth graders in my class.

Kids who aren't going to be back at mayflower next year.

Most schools have year-end traditions that these kids are going to miss and many of them as fifth graders have been waiting for it since kindergarten."

When the clock struck 12 teachers and staff were off to five different neighborhoods.

Families stood outside to welcome teachers.

Second grade teacher kailey knott says when students left for home march 13th they didn't know it would become their classroom.

So this is also a celebration of their work "i hope they know that we love them and that we are proud of them and we've all had to adjust and we've all had to kind of figure out how to do this and they've worked really hard."

Emotions were high as teachers and staff drove through each neighborhood "my son has autism so it's really special to me because this is something we've never experienced.

For him to get to see his teachers it's really nice."

"i know where i'm from they would never have nothing like this.

This is so amazing for the kids.

To experience something like this, they show so much love, i love them."
