The state health department reported 402 new cases of the coronavirus and 16 new deaths Friday, May 22.
In from the state health department are the latest coronavirus numbers as of six last night.
The state reported 402 confirmed cases of the virus.
That puts the total number of cases since the middle of march to 12,624.
The state also reported 16 new coronavirus deaths, sending the death toll in mississippi close to 600.
Three of those deaths are in our area -- one in attala county, one in monroe county and one in oktibbeha county.
