But-- some beach communities are eager for some tourism money.

And the incresed crowds could mean more money for local businesses.

Kezi 9 news reporter julian mininsohn has more.

(karl) "we are getting folks from around, without a doubt."

Businesses in florence are benefiting from the big beach crowds.

(braxton) "it helps the economy here locally, tremendously.

We're always glad to see people from eugene and farther out."

(julian) local staples such as jerry's place bar and grill say they've seen about 30 percent less sales than your typical memorial day weekend.

But similar to the beaches they've also seen an influx of crowds as each day has gone on.

(karl) "some people are staying home but we've also had some large groups come down from the eugene area or porltand, either one."

However -- jerry's place owner karl engel says some of his local customers aren't fans of the huge crowds due to safety concerns.

(karl) "one our local customers who had been down to the beach and actually complained he couldn't socially distance and there weren't masks being used."

But those from out-of- town are happy to support local businesses who are in the beginning stages of reopening.

(scot) "people have been closed down with their businesses and stuff.

My mom has a store in brookings.

They've been closed for awhile.she's back at it.

I'm glad the businesses are going again.

It's good for these people."
