Beth Jeffers and Whitney Brown of the Fitness Factor offer some tips on how to get back into your workout regime and some great ways to possibly shake things up in your old routine.

Whitney brown: good morning.

Welcome to get fit friday.

I'm whitney brown, here with beth jeffers.

Beth jeffers: good morning.

Whitney brown: we're at the fitness factor in columbus.

Again, so happy to be back at work, and so happy to be with our friends and members.

Today, we're going to talk about getting back into your routine.

We've had a little bit of shake up in our routines, your gym's closed for a while, and now you're back.

So what do you do?

How do you get back in action?

Beth jeffers: yes.

I think one of the things to think about is if you have taken six to eight weeks off, take it slow- whitney brown: that's right.

Beth jeffers: you want to come in just like you're almost a new exerciser, and just ease back in.

If you're a weightlifter, you don't want to come back in and start with the weight that you left at, or you're going to be pretty dang sore.

Whitney brown: you'll be hurting the next day.

Beth jeffers: we've always talked about this.

We want you to love fitness, and we want you to love your gym workouts.

So make it fun, maybe not go as long on your cardio.

We've had some of our members that have come back, they came back monday, they hadn't done anything the whole time, and they said they were a little bit sore.

Whitney brown: that's right, and that's okay.

You're just starting back over, or just picking back up.

You just want to be smart about your routine.

Maybe you cut down some of your days, and it's really important right now because gyms are slowly trying to find kind of a way to comply with all the regulations, your gym schedule might be a little bit different.

Whitney brown: we've changed some hours.

We've changed some class time.

Pay attention to your gym schedule, and so you might need to shift your workout schedule a little bit too.

Beth jeffers: right.

And just don't push yourself as much, try to get back into it.

We've been doing a lot of online classes for our members, and our members really appreciated the fact that they were able to stick with it.

It's nice to have a little accountability - whitney brown: it sure is.

Beth jeffers: ... but if you haven't been, take it slow, take it easy, enjoy seeing all your friends.

The studies are showing, you're in the right place.

You need to stay healthy and fit, and it is going to help you in your wellness.

It's not all about just looking good, it's for the health too.

Whitney brown: absolutely.
