Police rushed to the american modern hotel around 1 this morningã responding to a possible domestic disturbance.

When officers got to the hotel they say they saw davis outside his second floor room.

They talked him down.

Police say that's when he charged at themãbiting chunks of flesh out of his arm and spitting them on the ground.

They say they used a taser on davis, fired bean bags at him, sent in a police dog and beat him with their batons before finally getting davis under control.

Nearby business owners tell me they're shocked this happened so close.

Medics rushed davis to the hospital where he died.

Police searched his room at the hotel and found drugs and a knife.
