In birthplace of Juneteenth, Black Lives Matters protesters demand Confederate statues come down

On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln emancipated all slaves in the United States.

However, it wasn't until June 19, 1865, that the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas found out their freedom.

Flashforward to Friday (June 19), 155 later, protesters with the Black Lives Matter movement demanded a statue erected to honor the Confederacy be taken down.
