Good evening.

I'm dorothy sherman.

Thanks for joining us for news 12 now at 11.

People are calling for action after the hamilton county district attorney's office released a video of white officers arresting an african-american man from ohio.

Some claim it's police brutality.

Meanwhile, the sheriff expresses frustration with the d-a's move to release the video.

That's tonight's top local story.

Calls are being made for a hamilton county sergeant, corporal and 3 deputies to be fired after they were seen on these police cameras arresting reginald arrington, jr. the videos show officers taking arrington down as he tries to get away, pinning him and telling him to quit kicking as they beat him with batons.

Demonstrators put a focus on the incident when they got together in miller park tuesday afternoon.

Activist and artist c-grimey williams: "not tomorrow, not monday.

They need to be fired tonight.

There's no way any of us watching this can beat somebody on our job in the middle of the day, broad day on camera and still have a job the next day."

Clergy gathering outside city hall also commented on it.

First baptist church east 8th street pastor william terry ladd: "i can tell you this, we are not pleased with the sheriff's response.

We're definitely not pleased with that."

The hamilton county district attorney's office released the videos and dropped charges against arrington.

Attorney general neal pinkston has also requested a tbi investigation into possible excessive use of force, calling the videos "troubling."

In a statement, hamilton county sheriff jim hammond expresses his views saying "pinkston's actions will improperly influence and sensationalize" what happened.

He says the d-a "has chosen to do is indict my deputies in the court of public opinion prior to facts being presented in a court of law."

The sheriff says he's not placing the officers involved on administrative leave, but has ordered an administrative review, to ensure arrington's treatment was justified, and department policies were followed.
