Sheriff on mask enforcement

Sheriff Jim Hammond says it will be up to individual officer's judgement on enforcing the mask mandate.

Sheriff says it's not his goal to actively find people violating the new mask mandate.

On monday, hamilton county and health officials announced that they will be implementing mask requirements.

That means people in the county and its cities will have to wear facial coverings under certain circumstances.

Those who do not can be fined and given jail time.

Sheriff jim hammond says he's leaving enforcement up to his deputies' discretion.

" it is not my intent as sheriff as i think any police chief, to harass people about this.

We want ask them to be safe.

We want to talk to folks and give warnings of what could happen and hopefully they will comply with it.

The new mask rules start on friday.
