City of Rochester working to distribute CARES Act Funding

The city received $8.8 million dollars in federal funding.

Place./// new on daybreak new for you on daybreak... last month, we told you about how rochester is getting 8 point 8 million dollars from the federal government to help support coronavirus relief efforts.

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins spoke with mayor kim norton to see exactly what these additional funds will be used for.

She joins us live now.

Good morning, madelyne./// brooke and tyler.

I sat down with mayor norton and i'm learning they're working closely with the county to narrow down what and who needs the most financial support right now.

Mayor norton tells me these additional funds ?

"* will be helping ou with homelessness, food assistance or reimbursement for covid?

"*19 related activtis that the city has done.

With the recent spike in positive cases in the downtown area, many bars and restaurants are choosing to close their doors again ?

"* so it'll also go towards the local businesses.

Mayor norton says finding out what everyone in the community ?

"* both individuals and businesses ?

"*?

"* needs help right now is their main "we've been having meetings, not personally, but with some of our city administration with our partners like the county.

Touching base with some of the non?

"*profit organizations to find out... they often provide the services that need for people.

So how can we help them?"

Mayor norton tells me her goal is to bring something back to city council once they have a better understanding of what those immediate needs are here in city.
