City council hears from police department officials

New at ten -- the huntsville city council heard from many officials with the huntsville police department tonight.

Chief mark mcmurray described the briefing as the "state of the huntsville police department."

Several speakers outlined changes that have been made over the years to improve the department.

They reviewed things like hiring, training and accountability.

Some council members say even more needs to be done and it starts with communication.

You have to identify mechanisms that allow individuals who are sitting here today to get to know the community that is calling for accountability today as well.
