Washed-up whale carcass removed from Cape Town beach

A Bryde's whale carcass washed up on Long Beach, Kommetjie, just outside Cape Town, South Africa, on Monday (August 10).

Footage from Tuesday morning (August 11) shows workers from the local municipality chainsaw the whale carcass and cutting off the tail to fit on the flatbed truck, which was pulled by two tractors.

According to local media, sharks have identified a food source near the shore, and "increased shark activity" has been reported.
