Covid Case Decline

Covid cases in Mississippi were a steady trend at one point but are now declining.

It was a steady trend at one point here in mississippi: daily positive covid cases reported by mississippi department of health, reaching over one thousand.

But in recent weeks..

We have seen a slight decline of positive cases.

Numbers as low as 226 was reported just last week.

Dr. james martin, chief medical officer at baptist memorial hospital in columbus says seeing a slight decline doesn't mean people should stop taking this virus seriously.

He urges everyone to continue to follow all health guidelines..

"this virus is here to stay.

We will continue to see little upticks here and there.

I do think it will continue to trend down.

But there will be times where you will have some positives here and there.

So we need to be cognoscente of the guidelines, continue to social distance when we can.

Wear our masks when we can not social distance."
