Pet of the Week: Baxter
Pet of the Week: Baxter
Baxter is a nine year old long haired male.

Caitlin will tell us about baxter right after the break.

"here's a live look at the caveman bridge in grants pass from taprock welcome back to newswatch 12 midday and meet our pet of the week, baxter.

This big guy is a nine year old long haired male.

He's black in color, but as the pictures show, certain light brings out a lot of brown coloration.

Baxter is about 12 pounds of gentle giant.

He was originally adopted from c.a.t.s.

As a kitten, but his owner became old and unable to care for him, so he was returned to the shelter.

Baxter is generally quiet and somewhat shy until he gets to know you, then he loves to be petted.

Now you may notice his pink claw..

He had soft paws coverings put on his claws to protect his owner's thin skin, but these are slowly working their way off.

He has a corneal scar on his right eye, but it does not seem to bother him, and hopefully will not cause people to not want him, as he's still so cute and loving.

Baxter has been in a quiet home for most of his life, and that would probably be best for him in the future.

If you would like a big, quiet lover boy in your life, make an appointment to come into c.a.t.s.

And meet baxter.

This year has been a busy one for kittens so far, and c.a.t.s.

Has not been able to help as much as they would like.

You can help by having your cats spayed or neutered, and also any cats and kittens that you are feeding or otherwise helping.

If you are feeding strays around your home, see if you can get your neighbors to chip in so that you do not have a large population of unwanted strays around the neighborhood.

If you're looking for a way to help the shelter out with all the new kittens, why not sponsor one!

A donation of $200 designated for a sponsorship will take a kitten through all the normal procedures to get them ready for adoption.

The staff will pick out a kitten for you to sponsor and you'll get a picture of the kitten, a fact sheet about the kitten and updates about the kitten.

This is not an adoption, and the $200 sponsorship does not include adoption fees.

Cats is doing everything by appointment only tuesday through saturday from 11 am until 5 pm with masks required.

If you are interested in meeting baxter, another cat at the shelter, or would like to make a donation to cats, please give the shelter a call at (541)779-2916 to set something up.
