Farmers are gearing up for harvest season

Farmers are preparing to start harvest season next week.

We asked one local farmer how this season has been so far.

The fall the fall season is not that far away.

And it's bringing some company with it.

That company... harvest season!

At 5 we told you some local farmers are expecting that to happen as early as next week.

Now we see what's being done to prepare for it.

News 10's richard solomon joins us now live from a local farm with more.

When you see this piece of corn you may think the brown means it's bad.

But local farmer brad burbribk says it's ready for harvest season.

He walked me through what many farmers are doing right now to prepare.

"nats" as he walks through his crops..

"this is like perfect right here brown husks" the brown in farmer brad burbrink's stock let him know it's time.

"fall harvest which will hopefully be starting here next week we'll be at it for several weeks" here at b-n-ag farms...they're preparing every machine.

Burbrink says once they start to harvest the goal is to complete it by thanksgiving.

"we're definitely ahead of schedule i thinik this year going into it we've got way more crops that were planted in april and early may" burbrink says once the season starts...corn and beans will be tended to first.

"we've got a really good corn crop maybe the best corn crop we've had in several years" and with this size of land...it could take several weeks to havest everything.

But burbrink says this is setting them up for future success.

"you're always excited for this time of year.

It all starts really this fall in looking forward to next year" burbrink next year" burbrink says this corn isn't going to be used for pop corn or sweet corn.

Instead it'll be used for making taco shells and tortilla chips.
