Wtva's alexis jones is in tupelo with how junior auxilary members are helping silently..

Carroll aslive: every other wednesday, junior auxiliary of tupelo members fill up bags like this one with food and drop them off at five lee county schools.

Pkg: sot: "when we meet a basic need by providing food for the child then when they get to school they can be more focused, and learn better and just stay overall healthy."

Holly kulp- junior auxillory member trt: 9 ja member, holly kulp, said this is her first year in charge of the project.

She said it is a part of their "silent servings".

The project helps children who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Stand up: members packed about 500 bags of food like ravioli, oatmeal, and pudding.

Kulp said its enough food for the kids to have during the weekend.

Sot: "i don't think they should be worried about food.

That is apart of an important part of what we do by providing a little additional food for the weekend and then maybe that just takes that worry off their minds."

Holly kulp- junior auxillory member trt: 10 members loaded up their cars and brought the bags to school staff.

Staff then put the bags in students backpacks.

They try to do it in a way that doesn't draw attention.

George washington carver school is one of the schools that partnered with junior auxiliary.

Principal, christy carroll, said the organization plays a vital role in students lives.

Sot: "they really depend on it, it's not just an extra snack for many families.

We've also had some children say i'm going to share this with my brother or sister.

I think the families are very appreciative of it."

Christy carroll- principal trt: 12 tag: parents must give their permission to the staff so their child can receive food.

Then staff will notify ja members.
