Bob Hildenbrand Is This Week's Hometown Hero

With a silent auction.

Cases---a community can feel more like a family--- and tonight----i'm taking us to warrick county --- to show us one mans*labor of love.

He's known for always finding something to work on--- "he always has a project in the works.

If there's something he can do, he's out doing it."

Bob hildenbrand----- was born in evansville---but now spends much of his time giving back throughout warrick county-- since childhood---bob learned hard work from his grandparents and parents--- "i painted walls, if i didn't paint i cleaned floors, or do odd jobs all through my life.

All the people in my life, they were teaching you how to do it."

Those lessons-- he carried with him to adulthood--- passing his knowledge on-- when ever his handy work is needed -- and that's quite often in the small community.

"dozens, dozens in the 10 years i've known him."

For the last 3 decades---bob has been a member with the knights of columbus--- contributing to projects at several churches--- is a 4- h leader----and volunteered his time with renovating the civitan clubhouse--- working with future generations-- "it's all about helping the kids.

These kids out here, every little thing you show them, they suck it up and it's really neat to get them started on something, walk away, and they take care of it."

A small act-- going a long way in his community -- "while he is working and mentoring other people, he's teaching and imparting to them maybe how they should operate in their life and how they can contribute to others."

And for bob hildenbrand---his labor of love---is also just an honest days work-- "like they say, you're only going to pass here one time and i'm 80 and the hard thing is when you turn 80 you've got a 30 year old mind, and an 80 year old body...that's kind of a bind there.

I do what i can do.

And the guys around me do what we can do.

And we get it done."
