Ky Covid Highest Tuesday

Governor andy beshear calls today's coronavirus report, "grim"...as he says the state is preparing once again for a possilbe surge in coronavirus cases.

The state reported the highest tuesday total of new cases and the fourth highest overall since the pandemic hit.

The surging virus is tonight's top story at five.

The governor reported 1,312 new cases bringing the state's total to more than 89- thousand.

There were sixteen new deaths...putting the state's death toll at 1,342.

The positivity rate climbed above five percent at 5-point-08 percent...that's the highest percentage since august 25th.

And, the outbreak continues at the veterans center in wilmore..among people who live there and employees.

The governor is pleading with kentuckians and companies to double down on protecting themselves and their neighbors.

He says the state hasn't taken any direct action yet, but will look at using state parks and hotels again in case hospitals
