Today, they confirmed over 40 new cases.

Wtva's alexis jones joins us live in tupelo with how residents and visitors feel about the governor's latest mandate.

I'm in tupelo where people shared their feelings about the mandate.

Many of them believe it will help save lives.

"i think it's a good idea for right now."

Joann wilbanks lives in saltillo.

Wilbanks said she got the coronavirus this year.

She believes the mask mandate will prevent more people from getting it.

Sot: "think it's a good idea because i think it helps with the spread."

Edward milton lives outside of lee county.

He said a few of his friends died from the virus.

Milton said he is happy to be under a mask mandate.

Sot: "i think it's a good deal.

Because this right here can save one, two, or five lives."

Standup: governor reeves issued the mandate to stop the rise in cases in the county.

You now have to wear a mask inside any building.

You don't have to wear one outside if you can social distance.

Vo: guntown resident, melissa garrett, agreed with both of them.

Garrett believes a the mandate is a good idea.

Sot: "if wearing a mask can save one life, that's great."

The mask mandate went into effect this morning and will stay in effect until november 11th.
