Thank you for joining us-- i'm chynna greene.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy joins us live in the studio and tells us what lane community college is offering to the city.

Chynna-- the lane community college board of education gave the college president the go ahead to negotiate a lease with the city of eugene.

The college says the mary spilde building downtown has a lot of unused space that the city offered to occupy.

There is no written lease yet but there was talk during the meeting to make it multi- year.

President margaret hamilton says if the city decides to lease the space-- current l-c-c programs downtown wont be affected.

She says offices will be moved but just within the building to keep all lcc operations in one section.

For nearly a decade-- the city of eugene has leased office space around downtown.

In 2012--city operations were moved out of the old city hall and into the county administration building.

Then in 2014 the city decided to tear their old building that was built back in the 1960's.

For years-- councilors have debated on what to do about a new city hall.

In february of this year-- the council approved to move forward with final designs of a new city hall that is expected to be completed by 20-21.

Chynna--i did reach out the city of eugene to see what exactly the space in downtown will be used for-- but i did not hear back.
