The county clerk expects turnout to be around 80%.

Officials in buchanan county are preparing for what could be the biggest voter turnout they've ever seen.

Good evening i'm alan van zandt.

With just days to go before the election officially takes place november 3rd, buchanan county voters are casting their ballots early this year like never before kq2's ron johnson spoke with some of those voters today and he joins us now live at the courthouse with more, ron?

Alan, absentee voting has been the go to for so many missouri voters ahead of the election, and right here in buchanan county voters are showing up to make voice heard early.

<<ron johnson reportingwe're just a few days away from election day, but at the buchanan county courthouse, the voting has long been well underwaywith covid, we just came early to cast our ballot whether its across the country or across town, many are taking advantage of absentee voting this election season.

Covid-19 was a big reason for many to cast their votes early, but that wasn't necessarily the case for everyone, some just liked the convenience.

Absentee voting is very easy, you just need to make sure you have your i.d.

They give you a ballot and you get to go vote, very simple.

Others wanted to avoid the crowdsi just wanted to get it done now not wait you know, hopefully there wouldn't be a big line.each vote is adding up to what the county clerk says will be a record turnout by the time all is said and done on november 3rd.

I think we're gonna hit over 80% turnout and that's gonna be great.

It's gonna be a busy day but yeah it's gonna be epic.

Buchanan county voters say no matter how people choose to cast their ballot, they just want to make sure everyone takes part i always said every single vote matters, even if you don't think it does, it definitely does.

Everybody needs to vote, everybody should always vote.>> and some final tips.

If you're still thinking about voting absentee you have till the day before the election to do so, all you need your i.d and a reason why you're voting absentee, many people are citing covid-19 for that.
