I spoke with one woman who thought her cat, simon, was long gone until fur helped bring them back together."

Samantha jarrell and her daughter sofia lived in berry creek for almost 10 years.

After the bear fire tore through her town, she lost everything.

The worst part of it all, her cat, simon, was missing.

Samantha jarrell/bear fire survivor: "he's never had his food bowl ever empty.

So, that was the hardest part is not knowing if he was alive and how he was getting his food."

Two long months of searching went by when simon was finally spotted.

Samantha jarrell: "hannah actually called me and she said, 'we found simon!'

I was just jumping for joy."

It wasn't by chance&but rather through the vigilant work of fur.

But&how did they find him?

The answer -- feeding stations&game cameras&and through the help of volunteers like hannah braden.

Hannah is a camp fire survivor herself.

Now&she and other volunteers dedicate their time trying to help cats like simon&reunite with their families.

Hannah braden/fur board president: "being the light at the end of the tunnel for somebody, especially when they lose everything, it's amazing.

There is no better blessing to be able to help somebody."

After many visits with the vet& simon is back to being healthy& and happy.

Samantha jarrell: "if fur didn't help me find simon, i don't know if i would've been able to find him on my own without the organization.

It's just really amazing that they were able to help.

I am so thankful."

Carmela karcher: "fur has since reunited over 250 cats with their owners and is hoping to do more in the future.
