Mayors... in our viewing area... are taking steps to slow the spread of "covid-19."

News 10's jordan kudisch has been reaching out to those offiicals... she's in our newsroom with what they're doing to keep you safe.

That's right..

I've been calling, texting, and video chatting these mayors weekly.

They all have the same mission in mind..

And that's keeping everyone safe.

In the city of washington indiana... mayor "david rhoades" has created a social distancing policy.

Residents are to go to work..

And then come home.

And for some..

They are to strictly work from home.

This has been in place for just over a week..

And according to "rhoades" they've seen progress.

While residents in daviess county may be getting antsy..

He says we need to continue doing what we are doing to flatten the curve.

"keep everybody safe, stay home and just continue on what we have been doing.

Hopefully in another couple of weeks we will be better off yet."

Coming up..

We check in with illinois to see how they're doing.

Reporting live from the newsroom, jordan kudisch, department.

Mayors... across the wabash valley... are working to keep their communities safe.

News 10's jordan kudisch reached out to them see what they're doing... she's in our newsroom with what she found out.

All of the mayors i've spoke with are on the same page..

That's keeping each and every single resident safe.

In the last 30 minutes i told you what they are doing in washington indiana..

Let's take a look at the village of oblong.

I chatted with mayor "teresa fielder"... and a few weeks ago... she said she was concerned about the village..

And residents taking the virus seriously.

Now, she still has concerns..

But feels like the residents are all working together to stabilize the numbers.

However-- she says residents are antsy..

She wants people to make their mental health a priority during this time.

I asked her... when you became mayor did you ever think this is the kind of thing you'd have to deal with?

She said absolutely not.

And continued with this answer.

"but it's like something that has come in to our lives uninvited, unannounced and it's changed us.

It's been an eye opener and i'll sure be glad once we have this under control."

He's not the only one with a comment on covid-19.

Join us thursday for a special report with mayor duke bennett.
