Indiana Beach is welcoming its guests back after being closed for nearly five months.

News 18's Marvin Bills spent the day talking with those who were at the amusement park.

They say they were thrilled to return to the popular attraction.

So her mother surprised her.

"well my mom surprised me for vip's and i am here doing a day at the beach."

Indiana beach workers held a ceremony in celebration of the park re-opening.

Then vip guests such as susie hendrichs were admitted into the park.

She says when the beach closed it was heartbreaking.

"i was really dissappointed.

It was horrible.

I felt like something had been taken away."

Although she's glad that the amusement park has re-opened and she can continue creating memories.

"it's awesome and i am glad be a part of the vip thing."

"i feel amazing.

I feel so happy."

The watson family was with dozens of people who rallied when indiana beach announced its closing earlier this year.

As a family they are glad to be back.

"it means a lot for our family."

"we just create memories and keep traditions alive."

"now we can continue our history with our family.

I can say "hey, let's go to indiana beach."

A day full of emotions that new indiana beach owner gene staples felt.

"it's just a relief that we got it open and it's not as perfect as i want but we'll get there and i'm just hoping that everyone's happy with what we've accomplished."

Staples says while he is thrilled to have the park back up and running the progress doesn't stop there.

"i'm walking around seeing little things and we are going to make improvements through out the summer and keep making it better and better."
