Remember-- you will need to pay back any owed taxes today as well.

We also want to remind taxpayers to be aware of scammers... throughout the process.

They were irs impersonation calls trying to frighten people into thinking they had not paid their taxes.

Those were constant around the united states, they tricked them into calling and paying with gift cards and other methods when it wasn't the irs at all."

The better business bureau says there are impersonation scams, as well as identity theft and email phishing scams... to avoid these clary recommends... to try to file your taxes as early as possible... if you are worried about time request an extension so you don't feel rushed... watch out for red flags such as a duplicate return, or that you owe additional tax... always protect your social security number and research your tax preparer before handing over your personal information.

If you are a victim of id theft or a scam... contact the irs... and file a complaint with the federal trade commission.
