West Point football program adds new safety precautions as they prep for the upcoming school year.

Head coach chris chambless says right now his only focus is getting prepared and keeping his players safe.

"we're going to try to do everything right so they don't shut us down."

For the west point football team that includes working out in smaller groups but before players are even allowed in the building coaches survey and screen every player individually ((nats)) "we're doing everything in our power to take care of the guys while they're here."

During workouts coaches require players to sanitize their hands after touching equipment and coaches disinfect all weights before another player is allowed to use them "we're wiping equipment down between every rotation, we're fogging the place down."

((nats)) he says for the safety of a players ability to breathe the mississippi high school athletic association does not require players to wear a mask during workouts chambless says this is why social distancing for his players is important "stay spread out we got every station set spread out, we require or guys to stay spread out."

((nats)) he says with the help of the parents and community leaders he is optimistic about this football season "we're all in this together and we're all going to get through it together."
