A non-profit is giving small businesses in douglas county extra financial help during the coronavirus pandemic.

Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza shows us why they're so excited about this opportunity.

She says she still trying to get back on her feet after temporarily closing due to covid-19... even with the money she already received from the cares act.?i was like, oh my gosh!

They gave me $1,000.

That was great because its kind of cushioned?

The ccd business development corporaton is trying to give small businesses like crince's a little extra help.

They are giving out grants up to 25 thousand dollars... to small busineses in douglas, coos and curry counities.

Executive director theresa haga says only 29 businesses in douglas county have applied and received the grant.

But they still have 73 thousand dollars left to give.?from that point in time of us signing the contact with the state of oregon we have 45 days to deploy those funds& or else it goes back to the state?

Haga says businesses who have already received money from the cares act are not eligible to apply.

She says they're trying to focus on businesses who haven't recieved any money.

But she says that will be changing in coming weeks& because they will be expanding the requirments.

That means crince will be eligible to apply for extra money through the ccd.

On top of catching up on bills and rent while being closed for the pandemic, she says she trying to make some improvements to her shop??one of the main things is the air conditioning.

Small businesses can apply on the ccd or city of roseburg website.
