Deadline on monday .

3 after several rounds of federal funding applications, there are still businesses across the country who have been denied or did not get the opportunity to apply..news 1's leigha mcneil has details on an initiative to help those businesses here at home who have slipped through the cracks.

Stand up:guys i's called the louisiana mainstreet recovery program..i's a grant that is specifically for small businesses...the grant launched on tuesday but from now until august 17 priority if given to those business who have't received any federal assistance"we would be totally shutting down and having no idea about what 'm gonna do 've been in business for 20 years 've been self-employed my entire adulthood i have no idea what 'm going to do."

These are the stories, louisiana state treasurer john schroeder, has been hearing from small business across louisiana who are on the verge of loosing their livelihood.

Natsschroeder believes this program is a way to level the playing field."the way this grant program works is that everybod's equal as long as you have one of these little iphones and have the ability to call the one 800 number and you have a ability to apply for this"though this program is a step in the right direction, schroeder believes i's not a permanent solution.

"i's temporary, i's not going to keep somebody open for the next 15 years he does't help what is happened in the last six months i's just a band-aid but i tell people some aid is better than no aid."with the limited funds available.."i's going to run out ther's not enough money like i said ther's 300,000 eligible businesses right now we only have $275 million so tha's not going to go very far."h's encouraging those who are eligible to sign up as soon as they can."we encourage people to go get your application done and submit the application we do need to have a scanner nearby or are the ability to take pictures on your phone because you do have to apply invoices hopefully this can be a bridge for the next for five months so that this can keep them going."standup: schroeder also tell me that he is continuing his ride through out the state to visit small businesses..he says h's focusing on some of the more rural areas of the boot to make sure they get funding tooin lafayette leigha mcneil news 15 thanks leigha..to take a look at the eligibility requirements and the application head over to our website at klaf.com 3
