Hamilton College is just a couple of weeks away from welcoming students back on campus for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice President and Dean of Students at Hamilton College, Terry Martinez said students will sees these changes the moment they step back on campus.

Channel 2's brent kearney spoke to hamilton college officials about the school's plan.

Brent, good evening!

Hamilton college vice president and dean of students terry martinez saytheollege is ready to bring back its students for the fall semester.

The changes for students at hamilton college begin right when as soon as they enter the campus "when they come onto campus they will be tested 2 twice a week for the first two weeks and then once a week prior to that."

The students will be quarantined for two days in there rooms until test results come in.

Once they're all clear, they can then move to classes where martinez says students have the option to be on campus or work remotely.

"for students that want to study remotely and not come to campus they can do so.

For students that dont want either option they can take a leave of absence.and for those students who want to come to campus we are allowing them to come to campus."

Students will be required to wear masks as soon as they leave their dorm rooms and while they're in class and on campus.

Classroom teaching will have a hybrid format with social distancing inside the classroom., but the decision to have students in class is ultimately up to the professor.

"we offer the option for teachers to teach as they would like.

So their are some faculty members that fall into high risk categories and will only teach remotely so we honor that."

Residential life will also change.students will not be allowed to travel to other dorm rooms and no large gatherings will be allowed.dining halls will have social distancing measures "we just want our students be safeas they thi about their social le we're notsayingl lifewe are just sayg they ll have to do tir socilife diffo thanksgiving.

The rest of the semester will be held online including finals.
