That speakers.

However, there will still be a luminarious ceremony, just online.

Newswatch 12's leah thompson is live from home this morning.

Earlier this morning she showed us how to prepare for the ceremony.

Now she explains why this ceremony is important to cancer patients and survivors.

I talked to two cancer survivors and the youth coordinator for relay for life.

All three tell me the lumanrious ceremony is a time to reflect and remember.

Kendall while we want to be there we will be there in spirit daryl the biggest thing about the event this weekend is i have a true belief that no one should ever feel like they are alone.

Nicole it's always been a really special time for me.

This year's relay for life event is not going to be normal.

For the past 24 years the event in southern oregon took up the whole day.

This year it is just about the luminaria ceremony which will be online.

Daryl i feel for a lot of us the luminaria ceremony is one of the most important aspects of relay.

Nicole this is kind of a time to silence everything and reflect on who you have lost and what this is all about.

Kendall it means more then i can actually put into words.

I feel like it's such an energy.

There's a heartbeat to this event.

The ceremony provides an opportunity for people to light up bags that celebrate cancer surviviors, encourage people currently fighting or remember someone that is now a loving memory.

Kendall unfortantely so many of us know loved ones or friends, co-workers, neighbors that have been touched by cancer.

Kendall bencomo is a two time hodgkin's lymphoma survivor.

She's been in remission for the past two years.

And this year she was suppose to be one of the speakers.

Nicole i wanted to say even through all of that you can make it.

Nicole deflavio is a breast cancer survivor.

And she was also suppose to have a speech.

She says this year is about awareness.

Make sure you are doing your mamograms and scheduled check-ups.

Daryl through this time and day and age that we are living in you still can fight.
