COVID-19 Report Card goes live
COVID-19 Report Card goes live

Coronavirus statistics from school districts across the state are now available online on the state's COVID-19 dashboard.

Districts must report coronavirus testing to the state.

The state is making that information public on this brand new covid-19 report card.

And newschannel two has started plugging in the names of schools to see if there are any positive tests.

Happy to report.... zeros across the board.

But where istl districts to report cases to the state department of health.

But if school districts are not doing the testing....where are they getting the information to report?

Some districts we spoke with are asking students and staff to self- report.

Others...will get the data through county contact tracing.

But the oneida county executive questions the process.

3:47:02 we're being too duplicative in this process because as the system works now, someone is tested, it goes to the lab, in this case it goes to wadsworth, in albany - which is the state labratory.

The results come back, they come to us, we're informed, we begin the contact tracing, we send that data back to the state in another system called commcare.

They maintain the database.

At the same time, we are doing contact tracing, we notify the school because we're doing contact tracing.

The school, in turn, goes back to the state to tell them to put it on a dashboard which they already have 3:47:56 as we've reported.... some schools are in-person.

Some are all virtual.

And some are a hybrid.

If and when there is a positive test, the report card will indicate how that student is learning.

It's the first day of school for the rome city school districts.
