All throughout the pandemic many businesses have had to adapt to brand new strategies in order to keep dtheir doors open, the terre haute children's museum decided since they weren't seeing many visitors....they would open their doors to help with remote learning.

But what happens when kids go back to school full time?

News 10's bri shackelford lets us know what we can expect in the future.

It turns out those three months happened to be during a time they would have seen the most visitors.

During the closing, the terre haute children's museum lost over 200 thousand dollars.

That is equal to 30 percent of what their budget is for the year.

"we've had to limit our hours because i can't afford to pay staff, so we're only open saturday's and sunday's and those days are not very busy."

In order to help keep their doors open and help the community...the museum started a pod program to help with online learning... this gives the museum an opprotunity to help working parents as kids do remote learning.

It's called the museum academy.

"to have to completely switch the way we think about things is probably the most difficult task.

But it's been a really good exercise for us."

The museum academy has seen sucess...but some schools across the wabash valley are going back full time... this includes vigo county students.

Right now turner says she is uncertain of what the future might hold for the children's museum... but she remains optimistic.

"i believe in the terre haute children's museum, i believe in this community, i believe in our business community, we are a strong community.

We're going to survive this."

Now turner says meetings are taking place daily talking about what the future holds for this museum.
